πŸ‘€ Problem

Corporate environments struggle to effectively educate and engage employees on diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI). Traditional training methods often fall short, resulting in low retention of concepts, poor engagement, and difficulty measuring impact. While DIVE-IN's physical card game and Prezi-based MVP have shown promise through gamification, they're limited in scalability and data collection. There's a clear need for a fully digital, engaging solution that can seamlessly integrate into corporate settings, provide consistent DEI education across teams (including remote workers), and offer tangible metrics on knowledge impact and progress. This digital transformation would address the challenges of scalability, engagement, and measurable outcomes in DEI training.

Initial UI Design

Based on the client's drafts, we created the first UI design. This phase involved translating the client's vision into a visual format, laying the groundwork for the app's look and feel. We carefully considered the client's initial ideas while applying our expertise in user interface design principles.

High-Fidelity Prototyping

Following the initial design, we developed a high-fidelity prototype. This interactive model closely resembled the final product, allowing for a more realistic user experience during testing. The prototype included functional elements and detailed visual designs to provide a comprehensive representation of the app.

Usability Testing

We conducted thorough usability testing with real users, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives by including multiple personas. This phase was crucial in gathering authentic feedback on the app's functionality, ease of use, and overall user experience. The tests were designed to uncover any potential issues or areas for improvement.

Design Refinement

Using the invaluable insights gained from usability testing, we entered the refinement phase. We carefully analyzed the feedback and observations, identifying key areas for enhancement. This process involved making iterative improvements to the design, focusing on optimizing user experience and addressing the various needs uncovered during our research and testing phases.

πŸ’‘ Learnings

Positive Outcomes

Users found the app intuitive and easy to navigate, with no critical sticking points identified. The app's visual design also received praise, indicating a successful aesthetic approach.

Pain Points

Key issues included information overload on the dashboard, lack of game onboarding, unclear wording in one activity, and difficulties for moderators. The moderator experience, in particular, needs simplification to enhance usability.

Additional Insights

Valuable suggestions for improvements and potential future features were collected. These ranged from minor adjustments to more substantial enhancements, providing a roadmap for future development to keep the app aligned with user needs and expectations.
